Foreman

We're currently seeking a skilled and motivated foreman to join our Orcas island based team.

The role of foreman requires a detail-oriented individual who can successfully maintain an effective job site, who can communicate with precision and clarity and who can support the superintendent in the overall goal of building an expertly crafted house.  Successful candidates will show an aptitude for leadership, building positive relationships and a willingness to go above and beyond to ensure that the design intent and project goals are met.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Anticipate problems, offer solutions based on experience, estimate materials and time to perform work proposed
  • Able to run small projects as a working lead; coordinate crew to maximize productivity
  • Develop daily schedule and be responsible for its execution
  • Make staffing recommendations to superintendent; evaluate work performed on site, mentor and train
  • Schedule and manage subcontractors to ensure work is completed to code and according to plan
  • Be the company representative with the superintendent is not on site
  • Discuss work with clients, architects, partners and inspectors with integrity, clarity and patience
  • Maintain effective, respectful communication at all times with field crew, subs, clients, partners and team
  • Minimize material use to prevent waste and unnecessary cost
  • Manage material deliveries, handling, storage, and placement
  • Be a positive advocate for safety in action and attitude; reinforce awareness to reduce the risk of injury or citation and know OSHA requirement for your location and site
  • Practice safe housekeeping to keep a safe and efficient worksite
  • Maintain job site security (ie. ensure safety of all people, tools, and materials)
  • Maintain accurate documentation in the daily job log

Qualifications and Skills

  • 6 years high-end residential carpentry experience
  • Ability to read and interpret architectural drawings and specifications
  • Exhibit proper use of tools and equipment and have full complement of tools and specialty tools
  • Excellent communication, team-building and mentoring skills
  • Ability to take and give direction
  • Ingenuity based on technical knowledge and experience with both traditional and new materials
  • Reliable transportation and a clean driving record
  • Some locations require the ability to communicate in Spanish at a basic level
