Concrete Foreman

Schuchart/Dow concrete foremen demonstrate advanced knowledge of formed, finished architectural concrete utilizing ¾” forming systems. A desire to work hard among a team of highly talented craftsmen and the ability to positively and professionally contribute to the job site are both critical for this lead quality control and quality assurance role. Top candidates will show an aptitude for precision and the ability to actively listen and clearly communicate. 

This position offers an opportunity to work on builds with large scopes of architectural concrete elements, and to work with colleagues who are dedicated to the highest levels of craftsmanship and quality in the industry. 

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Participate in maintaining a safe, clean and organized job site: pick up all tools and equipment, and secure job site each day to eliminate potential injury to self and others
  • Layout formwork and set elevations per drawings
  • Demonstrate knowledge of safety and health procedures by working in a safe manner and maintaining an awareness of the safety of others on site. Must be able to read and understand safety instructions, signs, labels and permits
  • Function as a carpenter and/or form setter as required by scope of work at hand
  • Demonstrate knowledge of proper use of tools and equipment
  • Operate laser with proficiency
  • Work at elevated heights and in confined spaces
  • Must be able to work while wearing personal protective equipment
  • Must have reliable transportation to get to work safely and on time
  • Invest in personal tools and equipment per the required tool list found in this job description

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Advanced ability to read and interpret drawings and specifications
  • Advanced ability to read and coordinate rebar and formwork shop drawings
  • Advanced knowledge of ¾” forming systems
  • Expertise with foundation hardware (snap-ties, shoes, cleats, etc.)
  • Motivated, dependable and trustworthy
  • Ability to follow instructions, take notes and perform work as designated
  • Ability to be an active listener, ask for help and suggest solutions
  • Communicate ideas and information clearly in written, verbal or graphic formats
  • Demonstrate dependability by arriving on time every day ready to work through the end of the day
  • Be a team player and foster a positive and constructive attitude environment onsite
  • Good manners as well as respect for team, subcontractors and clients
  • Possess basic knowledge of safety and health procedures (ongoing safety training provided)
  • Ability to manage stress and maintain composure in challenging situations
  • Ability to work 10-hour days on a regular basis and occasionally work on weekends
